Etegami (絵手紙) is a traditional Japanese art form: a simple, hand-painted postcard combining line drawing, watercolor, and a short message. At Kyoto Shoten, a 1-hour beginner-friendly Etegami workshop teaches line drawing, color, and composition with a local instructor, and your finished artwork is printed on a tote bag to take home.
Kyoto Shoten is about a 5-minute walk from Karasuma-Oike Station, in central Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto — close to the Nishiki Market and the downtown shopping area.
No reservation is needed for T-shirt, hoodie, or tote bag printing — walk in anytime during opening hours (10:00–19:30 daily). The Etegami postcard painting workshop, however, requires a reservation since sessions are limited to small groups.
